video advertising on youtube lets you answer
When it comes to video advertising you never want to exclude YouTube as a form of advertising.
video advertising on youtube lets you answer your potential customer or client with the ease of video technology.
A video is all about telling a story through visual and sound design.
Tips when making videos
So, you want to make epic videos. Videos that leave an impact on the viewer. Here are some tips to consider when creating your videos.
A video needs to tell a story using footage and sound. A video is made up of 2 key components.
Your video needs to flow within these 2 elements. Meaning, your video needs to be visually appealing as well as being able to deliver a sound impact.
When deciding to make a video try to find a song first, to set the mood. After listening to the song, think about where certain clips need to fall within that sound.
Also remember, that you can manipulate a song as well to give it more depth.
Using sound filters to enhance sound in a video
What I mean by that is for example.
Say there is a part in a song where you’d like to give it a sound of being underwater. You can do this by adding a lowpass filter to that part of the clip. You can also experiment with different sound elements and filters such as reverb.
Some people will say that a video is 50% visual and 50% sound. For me, personally. I think it’s 40% visual and 60% sound.
Sound can make a huge difference in how your video is perceived. You can really set the mood with sound.
Let’s take a look at this clip I shot at kaniakapupu ruins.
It’s a simple clip, I had my gf follow me through the bamboo forest as she filmed me walking.
Changing the way a video tells a story through sound
Now let’s take a look at it with 2 different types of music added to it.
The first clip is suspenseful and probably makes you feel like I’m lost in a jungle of some sort and trying to find my way, in the meantime something crazy might just happen.
With that clip, all I did was slow the footage down to 40% since it was filmed at 1080p 60FPS.
I am editing on a 1080p 24FPS timeline. This allows me to slow a 60fps shot down to 40% without losing any frames. Thus, having that buttery slow motion look.
Then I added a few speed ramps in certain areas and cut to the last part of the clip when I am looking down at the mud.
Clip #1 Intense Music With A Dark Colorgrade
Clip #2 Mellow Music With A Cool Temp Color Grade
Always color grade your video
As a finishing touch, added a dark color grade for a mysterious look.
Then I Added that cinematic suspenseful music and that is what I got.
Now let’s take a look at the same clip with a different color grade and music.
The second clip is the same the only difference is the color grading and the music.
See how the second clip sets the mood as if it’s like a travel video or exploration video.
All this is achieved with sound.
The sound makes a big difference in video production
Now if you want to kick it up a notch again, using sound. Let’s add some sound effects to the speed ramps and a transition in the cut.
Here is clip 1:
Here is clip 2:
Again, the sound will set the mood of your video and overall what you are trying to achieve in your scene.
What Gear to Use For Filming?
It all depends on you. For the video above it was shot with a simple GoPro hero 6 and using the GoPro karma grip to stabilize the shots.
I use better equipment for commercial work but for traveling and run and gun shots here is what I use because it’s cheap and gets the job done.
Canon SL2 (very good underrated DSLR)
Zhiyun Crane V2 3-axis (Stabilizer For Canon SL2)
Video Editing Software
When it comes to video editing I always 100% use Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.
It’s a little challenging at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
Like everything, it takes practice to perfect the skill.

See The Bigger Picture
Here is a video I did for my personal instagram. It uses all the elements above such as color grading, music selection, sound effects, and transitions.
It was made to show how all elements when combined can make a great video.
